Before writing this column on AVI, I had a look at the notes I’ve written on the company over the past five years. They have all been unequivocally positive, notwithstanding the relative sideways direction of the market (and AVI) during most of this time.

But recently the share price has picked up noticeably, even though it remains far below its record high of R126.60 achieved in February 2018. My view that this is by far the best food company in SA remains and the most recent interim results appear to endorse that view...
